Our internal project methodology is well planned and tested. First, we assign a dedicated Project Coordinator that oversees all aspects of the translation project. Next, we appoint language teams based on industry and content needs. Our teams utilize a translation, proofreading and editing process to complete all requests, known as TEP. We then leverage Translation Memory tools to create glossaries and databases for each client, while also utilizing it to proofread the current project with previous ones. By using memory tools, all subsequent translations will be consistent and cost effective. Once completed, the translation must pass a series of quality assurance metrics before final delivery can occur.
Our quality control process begins by appropriately qualifying our linguists. When building our translation teams, we prequalify all linguists in the following areas: industry specific credentials, proficiency levels in source and target language, translation expertise, quality assurance certificates and scoring rubric results of sample translations. Our service provider force of professional certified linguists spans local, regional, national and global locations. All have vast experience of at least 5 years and are certified either by the American Translators Association, or a similar certification in their native countries. Annually, our linguists submit updated resumes, certification, and credentials for continuity. By adhering to stringent quality assessment policy, we continuously monitor our linguists’ abilities.
We assign dedicated Project Coordinators to all clients to lead the language expert linguist teams and oversee all aspects of projects. Barbier International is cognizant of the fact that not all of our clients have in-house interpretation and translation experts. In fact, most do not. We are always pleased to have our project coordinators directly communicate with your employees and walk them through any process that may be unfamiliar to them. The better the project is planned, coordinated and communicated, the easier and the more cost-efficient the entire process will be.
Correct, accurate, and true translation is a specialized science, developed through years of experience. Since we know that meaning hinges on context, we translate the meaning of a text, taking into account the culture of the location or region where the translated text is targeted. All translation documents are localized or internationalized, as each project requires. Since we only employ native speakers of the language pairs that they represent, our clients never have to worry about regional dialects or content being misrepresented, mistranslated or not localized properly. Our linguists understand the delicate balance in working in an international environment, yet providing culturally and grammatically correct products.
Barbier International promotes and adheres to the ASTMF2575‐06 Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation, the SAE J2450 Translation Quality Metric, the ISO 17100:2015 for Translation Services and the ISO 9001:2015 for process. All staff and linguists commit to working in an ethical manner and in accordance with Barbier International’s ethics codes. Such codes not only include industry specific and standard business ethics, but also commitment to excellent quality service, professional conduct and respect of all people and cultures. All receive our ethics codes upon working with our teams and are gone over and reviewed with our management team. These codes are annually updated as appropriate. Additionally, all linguists and staff adhere to various industry specific ethics codes and standards, i.e. The American Translators Association Code of Professional Conduct and Confidentiality.
